schoolslave Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Does the ASUS Crosshair still overclock well if 4x1Gb RAM sticks are used? Thanks.
Guest SuppA-SnipA Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 i'd imagine it would be hard to overclock with 4 sticks of ram
Duke Detroit Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Not tried yet and I have 4x1G of GSkill DDR2 800 HZs... still fighting with a Crosshair... There are some odd voltage issues. Even the BIOS is mis reporting higher voltages than selected. All rather odd actually. Until I get a handle on that the additional 2x1G won't go in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the AM2 isn't as picky with 4 modules as the 939 were.
Angry_Games Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong, but the AM2 isn't as picky with 4 modules as the 939 were. in my experience so far, 4x double-ranked DIMMs (1GB-2GB modules basically) are no problem on any of the AM2 cpu's and chipsets I've messed with. As long as you use 2T that is. 1T is a crapshoot. They should overclock relatively well but nothing like 2x1GB or 2x512 or 2x anything (4x = loads the memory controller a lot more, though way better at 4x DIMMs than the 939's ever could dream about, they still aren't all that great for much more than low-to-moderate overclocking)
