Is plat rev 2 usable in most boards?

Recommended Posts

I just ordered some OCZ play rev2 ddr2 mem that is on sale for a future build. If you go to their web site, the supported Motherboard list is kinda limited. IS this ram good ram for most MB's? what about the ddr400 version of this ram? I'd hate to be limited to my choices of MB's

Most the time when they make those motherboard lists those are the motherboards they tested the ram on, with all the different types of ram its almost inpossible to test every motherboard with every type of ram, but as far as I know OCZ is pretty universal as far as boards go.

DDR2 RAM + DDR2 supported 240-pin motherboard - OK

DDR RAM + DDR supported 184-pin motherboard - OK

As long as your memory type is compatible with whatever the motherboard supports, there isn't any reason the OCZ RAM won't work.

I almost never worry with hardware compatibility lists, because there isn't any way they can be all inclusive. All they do is tell you that X-brand, X-model whatever works with their particular item. i.e. confirmed to work by putting that RAM on that board etc.

So there isn't any way that OCZ can get every board, made by every mfg. and test every combination that might exist.

Weird....I swear I posted in this thread.

You won't find any more Plat Rev 2, the IC's were discontinued in Early 2006.

Yeah I was wondering about that since I've seen some ads for DDR2 Plat rev 2.
