floppy drive cable kicking my ...

Recommended Posts

did they change over the years or something? i've been having trouble trying to make a simple dos boot disk on vista 64 for my external hd so i said screw it and grabbed the floppy off another computer, well, i go to plug it in and the pin outs don't match...my board has 17 pins across the bottom and 17 across the top and the cable has the 5th pin filled in, so it won't work. the other two old computers in my house do not have the same pin outs on their motherboards..wtf???

All floppy cables are pretty much the same but like you said, some of the pins are missing on the board which match up with blocked pin holes on the cable. I have only come across this with for example....Asus motherboards with Asus floppy cables. None of the rounded third party floppy cables I have purchased have had any pin holes filled in.
