Maximus Formula + Q6600 + Reaper HPC

Nice results. But Aquamark is the wrong bench for comparing video cards. It thrives on CPU speed and memory bandwidth.

Hm. Never knew that, thanks for clearing that up.

I would have used 3DMark 06, but for some reason it won't open.

looking good

hoping my X38-DS5 will OC just as well

Thanks. I'm hoping to get somewhere near 4GHz. :tooth:

So, I've been attempting to push the Q6600 even further than what I have now, but it would seem as if I've hit a wall so to speak. I can get it to POST at 3770MHz, and 3800MHZ, but it won't boot into Windows and if it does it'll freeze on the welcome screen and restart. So, here's the plan - Today and over the weekend I'll be closing up this adventure of mine, and my target is one of three frequencies: 3800, 3900, or the golden mark - 4GHz. To give myself better headroom (at least so I think) I'll flash to the Maximus' latest BIOS revision - 0907.

Wish me luck guys. :)

Good luck, how are the temps at those speeds?

Thanks.

Under 100% the cores range between several different temperatures...

Core 0 - 47~52C

Core 1 - 48~52C

Core 2 - 46~48C

Core 3 - 46~48C

The Q6600 is trying it's hardest to output some serious heat, but the H20-220C is giggling at it's efforts. :tooth:

Idle temps are 32-35-28-28. EDIT: 26-31-24-24

All of this at 3.6GHz in a room (my room) with an ambient temp of about 22.3C. EDIT: 20.4C.

Been playing around with the 3870 some more, and while 850/1301 isn't stable, 845/1301 definitely is...

3DMark 06 - Test No. 1 (840/1301)

3DMark06 - Test No. 2 (845/1301)

Notice the CPU score has also gone up a bit. :)

So far, so good. I'll continue to push for more than 3.6GHz, and I'll finally work up the courage to flash my 3870's BIOS.
