tomb9712 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Here's the deal I currently have a Sapphire Radeon X1950GT 256MB I can get a really good deal on a 8600 GT 256 meg card. I can either go SLI or Crossfire with either so that's not really a factor here. Is it worth the upgrade to go from a 1950gt to 8600 gt? jelly Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I am running an ati x1900xt and was looking at upgrading to an x2900pro and found out that there is not realy any gain. If you want to upgrade for DX10 look at an 8800. Dont go below that tho! If you are not going to upgrade for DX10 then I would wait for the next gen to come out. Thats what Im doing. Just remember mid-range DX10 card are alot better for HTPC's rather then gamming. Look for reviews on google and you will see for yourself. Branjo Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Yeah I agree , the next logical upgrade for you should be an 8800. An 8600 would just disappoint you when you switch it on for the first time after using the 1950.
tomb9712 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks everyone. I was able to test it head to head as my friend bought an 8600. He returned it after we ran the head to head comparison.
