Best CPU for a 939 board?

A dual core chip is the way to go. I don't know what your budget is, but I'll provide a couple of links.

 

The "Toledo" CPUs overclock very well. NewEgg has one for cheap. I have this one.

The Opteron CPUs have been famous here on the forum. I don't own 1, but everyone here says that they too overclock very well. NewEgg has these as well.

If you do decide to get the "top of the line" chip for Socket 939, you would have to get the FX-60. I have one of these. It's a very solid chip. But you will only find those on Ebay as they are fading away from the market. You had better hurry up and get one while there are still a few left.
