Those of you with "socialized medicine"...

Recommended Posts

Ok I'll bite again...

Yeah, I waited for everyone to settle down a bit, sometimes I just don't feel like reading 3 page rants. I am not that deep into politics etc, I just like easy conversation.

Watch 'Sicko' and see how they do it ;)

Well, I did watch Sicko and upon further investigation learned that most of the "facts" used were either false or only half-truths.

That's why I posted the question. I would trust you guys since you live there and aren't trying to make a buck.

According to several news stories on the BBC and other sources...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3969529.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/360152.stm

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=cp...&show_article=1

EU member states are losing doctors faster than they can train them.

The UK and France seem to have the greatest need for formally trained doctors and they just aren't applying for the jobs available.

Then you find stories like these...

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/14/opinion/...r=1&oref=slogin

http://www.upi.com/Health_Business/Briefin...ed_by_us_bucks/

showing where the deficits are.

But this is my favorite...

They contend that only by restricting Canadian doctors from leaving the country will work.

"Interpretation: Minimizing emigration, and perhaps recruiting physicians to return to Canada, could reduce physician shortages, particularly in subspecialties and rural areas. In light of competing physician shortages, it will be important to consider policy options that reduce emigration, improve access to care and reduce reliance on physicians from developing countries."
Sounds a bit like the way the Soviets kept the East German citizens on their side of the wall.

My personal doctor is of North African descent and my heart doctor is Pakistani. When I visit a customer at a medical plaza, I have a hard time with almost half the names.

I have heard ugly rumors that privatized flu shots prevent the flu better than socialized ones. But, that is probably not true:tooth:

What would male them different? I used to work in that field, and have been to Flu vaccine facililites in Germany, England, Canada, and the US... The only difference I saw was that the English techs were some of the laziest people I ever saw! LOL

Almost every flu shot in the world is made on the same equipment with about the same process, and those that aren't made on that equipment are available in countries I assume no one here is posting from. Plus, all the manufacturers meet well before going into production and they all agree exactly how to make the next batch of flu shots so they all are effectively the same.

Now, that said... Would I let someone give me a flu shot made in Romania or India (for example), based on my experiences? HELL NO!

---------------------

But, to my original point for stepping in here. Just wanted to share a link:

Canada's socialized health care system is hurting and they need the USA to help!

If that was meant to be serious... it is just ridiculous. What would male them different?
It was a joke, hence the smiley face :tooth:

Michael Moore's work is about as much fact and truth as was Spinal Tap.

I am not going to dig for a link but the best story I read was about a human needing an MRI somewhere in CAN. He couldn't get one in any reasonable amount of time and was put on a waiting list with a several month backlog. There were no funds available to train a proper number of techs to run the machine so it was only operational a fraction of the time needed. At that exact moment in time, you could get 24/7 (privatized I might add) pet and veterinary care. This included emergency imaging (Xrays, MRIs, etc). So, tell me again about how good that system is?

Just how it is in the western world.

Unless you want to throw the right amount of money at it. It's not gonna go away.

Retention is just an issue to contend with even in a private system. People will always follow money or other material gains.

I didn't find that to be particularly interesting info, everybody wants to come to the US. When you're not from here it can seem like the best place in the world to make money, I can vouch for that.

Damn, you must have hovered on that quote in order to save it for later... :D - I removed it with an edit just after posting. LOL

Anyway, you never know... Its like how some people think the name brand groceries are better than the store brand, even if you know that they are made in the same plant and on the same line... Or maybe even generic drugs versus name brand drugs. My no name version of Ambien knocks me out just as good as the real thing... LOL

Actually, that's the way it came thru in the email notification so I just quoted that. I realized later that you had done an "ninja edit".

As far as doctors and the money deal, this is part of the problem inherent in a socialized system. A person does not spend 8-11 years in school without having some motivation and initiative. That person is most likely not going to sign on to work a very low paying government job just because he is a philanthropist and loves his fellow man. He's looking for the big paycheck, a nice home for his family, and the 8 series BMW.

Just making the point that social healthcare doesn't lead what some would consider a socialist hell and others a nightmare. We have very low unemployment (based on gov sats') which you wouldn't get if we all turned into freeloaders due to rampaging welfare and social healthcare. Its not a snowball unless the voters want that and politicians will give it to them as their main aim is to get put into power.

"AlGore" wins the Nobel Peace prize for his Global Warming rants.

Notice it wasn't a Science prize but a "social" prize because there isn't a lot of valid science in his Power Point presentation or the film made from it.

Anyone that thinks the "consensus formed" is anything like a scientific fact needs to go back to school to further their education.

So now he's pushing his plan for socialized medicine.

“I strongly support universal single-payer government-provided or government-funded health care”

The US already has Medicaid for the poor. The truly poor, not the middle income two car kids in private school two weeks of vacation at Disney poor.

This is why all Americans should be afraid of this guy...
