Home Run #756: what to do with the baseball?

Mark Ecko (clothing designer) bought the home run ball from Barry Cheater's 756th record-breaking home run for $750,000.

Now he wants you to vote on what to do with it:

I voted to brand an asterisk into the ball because after all the evidence I've read, especially the book Game of Shadows (the two authors almost went to federal prison for leaking grand jury testimony), I am 100% sure Bonds is a juicer. I'm also on the same page as Mr. Ecko who believes that cheating in sports is more than just Barry Bonds...

anyway, give it a vote!

I think the fact that Bonds got so upset about this proves guilt. He gets veeeery sensitive...

Brand that thing!

BTW: GO BACON!!! 3-0???

Writing me off so quickly may not be a smart thing to do Mr. Carter. You and your Bacon better watch it.

Babe Ruth was also up against pitchers with less than half the skill that todays pitchers have... on fields with shorter fences... Hank Aaron too... who cares if Bonds is a juicer or not? Shoot, I'd be willing to bet a lot of the pitchers he hit home runs against were juiced somehow...

Baseball isn't an individual sport, and we probably shouldn't have individual records for it anyway... I can understand Olympic runners, and french cyclists :tooth: getting nailed for using muscle enhancers, but come on...

some of the best pitchers ever came from Ruth's era...the guy was just a monster...but it doesn't even matter. Juicing is cheating no matter who does it, and whether these athletes like it or not, they are heroes to youth who wish to grow up and be just like them. To me it's more crushing to have a lot of kids find out their favorite player is a cheater, a gambler, a womanizer, a rapist, a murderer, etc than it is to care about some stupid record that people will argue over endlessly.

Kids look up to these guys. Adults like us respect their abilities. It's a shame to be disappointed in finding out the reason why these respected athletes are so good, and it's worse to have to explain it to your kid (who generally likes anyone you like because you are his dad and he looks up to you even more than he looks up to these athletes)

Besides...its CHEATING. Cheating is wrong. How can you feel good about yourself knowing you had to cheat to get do it? I used to pose this question to the cheaters who would come into Strikeforce servers back when I helped out with that game, just the same as I pose it to everyone about the OC Database...you can cheat and put an entry in, but how good could you possibly feel about it, inside, knowing you don't have the true skill or ability to do it, so you had to cheat just to make everyone think you are that good?

Problem is, some people have no qualms about cheating to be #1.

Worse than that maybe, back to the kids, is just what a jerkbag butthole Barry Bonds is. He's not friendly. He's not nice. He's extremely selfish. He's rude. Anyone who has paid any attention knows this just by watching any interview or reading any interview ever done with this no-account cheater. What a horrible person he is, and to have a guy like that who is a cheater and a jerk be someone we are supposed to respect because he broke some record?

Not on your life. I hate baseball and have hated it since they had a big strike over money in the 80's. I was crushed back then to learn they cared more about the money than the game (I was still in little league and was very good and looking to be a baseball player and I looked up to all those guys...endless days at the park or ballfield and all of us kids would be shouting out "I'm Keith Hernandez!" or "I'm Darryl Strawberry" (I loved the Mets heh) and then to find out they wanted more money AND they were womanizing, coke-addicted jerks...

I've watched maybe 10 baseball games since those days. I nearly gave up my love for hockey over that stupid strike (at least in hockey all they have is killers who drive drunk I guess).

I'm just very cynical over pro athletes or any type of celebrity. Anymore, all of them seem to be cheaters, drug addicts, petty little shallow people, murderers, whatever.

I still look up to my brother who might be sort of a square to some people (I was pretty wild, he really wasn't) but he's never cheated that I know of. Maybe he has and he's hidden that from me, but if I never know, then I never have reason to suspect. I am pretty sure though, knowing him all 34 years of my life, that he's the kind of guy who won't cheat, won't rat you out, won't steal your woman, won't crash your car, won't kill you over a bar fight, etc. Better than my dad for sure. Better even than my mom, rest her soul.

Guys like my brother I look up to. Guys like Barry Bonds are chumps and deserve to be branded for what they are. Jackass cheaters.
