AnUnknownSource Posted September 18, 2007 platform error: bad module ' friends/friendsUI.dll' not loading Anyone else got that when they tried to load a steam game? It's pretty rampant right now, a lot of similar complaints on a lot of forums popping up, so I thought I'd post a fix that worked for me. 1 - move the Steamsteamapps directory somewhere (I just moved it to my desktop) and uninstall steam. Then go back and make sure the Steam directory is completely gone (your steamapps folder should still be on your desktop) 2 - download steam from the steam website www.steampowered.com and install, BUT at the last step, before you click finish, move your steamapps directory into the Steam folder. now click finish. 3 - let it do it's update routine, and log in 4 - play CS:S
mentul Posted September 19, 2007 I fell victim to that same error but all I did was reinstall steam into the same directory and it worked out fine. Although with your method, it probably keeps all of your config settings intact, unlike my half assed method
