trebla9264 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I just built the computer today, and checking the temperature in bios, I found that the cpu temperature was running very hot. The temperature was fluctuating between 64 and 74 degrees. It would be 63 one second then jump to 72, then drop back down to 65. It did this over and over again. I have tried resetting the cpu fan, nothing seems to be working. I am using the stock fan, but im only in bios it shouldn't be running this hot. I touched the heatsink after its been running for about an hour and it is only slightly warm. Thanks in advanced.
red930 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 That AMD X2 5200+ should be under 40c at idle, i mean way under. Somehow you haven't managed to configure the fan control in the system bios or that you didn't apply enough or too much TIM on the cpu which isn't making a clean contact with the heatsink. I would also suggest install a 3rd party TEMPERTURE APPLICATION to look at the temps also in Windows. Make sure your cables/wires are tucked in proplery or clean throughout the case, really look into the BIOS and see if there is any settings regarding CPU FAN, anything! You're processors max temperture is 55-70, but i would never ever let it hit over 50c. I hope this helps... http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/de...n=ADA5200IAA6CS
Ero Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 check if there's a bios update available for your board, bioses may misread temps on chips that came out after that bios was released.
trebla9264 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I downloaded both Core Temp and Speedfan. For Core Temp i get around 38 for both cores. In Speed Fan Temp1:55c Temp 2:49c Temp 3: 41c HD0 30c Temp1 30c Core 37c. So i guess my cpu temperature is just fine. Now I wonder what Temp 1 is and why I have two of them. Thanks again. Ero Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 2 cores = 2 temps
trebla9264 Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 ok so temp 1 is one core and the other temp 1 is the other core? But Core isn't either of the cores?
