djnarush Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Dear DIY STreet, I have the ufo case from xoxide.com this case houses NINE 120mm fans. How am I going to wire 9 fans with leds? I mean, where do i plug in 9 led wire things for power. also, I saw this fan controller I thought was cool http://www.xoxide.com/subl4poblred.html I like the fact that Each channel can handle two fans.. So if i got two of those, I can control 8 fans. The last fan, I can just plug into the mobo. but, for led fans, where do you plug in cables for the lights? and how would i wire up all NINE of them? Throw me your thoughts... Thanks Seph
mknwatt Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 UFO, nice BIG case just what I like. I've modded two cases into one after seeing the mountainmod. I use the same fan controller, have 2 - one on the way. 20W per channel(x4) will be enough juice to power 9x 120 fans w/ leds. Just check each fan's amp rating to make sure. The four leds on the fan controller are very bright. I removed mine, much better. You might need more fan wiring/connectors, only get enough for four fans. Something like these would do >>> 3pin Ext and 3pinMolex. If your also powering 9 leds (not including the fan's leds) then pick up two, one for the fans - the other for light control. One nice feature this fan controller has is your able to shut the fans OFF.
AnUnknownSource Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 do your fans have seperate wires for the LEDs? I've never seen that before, usually they're powered by the same wire that powers the fan...
radodrill Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Most LED fans power the LEDs from the same connector as the fan; the only exception I know of is the A.C.Ryan Blackfire 4, which has separate harnesses for the fan and LEDs as well as a dongle to tie them together. djnarush Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 uh duh?!?! ok thanks, I didnt know they Leds were powered by the fan. i just realized(going to microcenter) that the other wires are for the 3/4 pin adapter, and NOT to power the lights seperatly. I havnt got to the point of internal lights, but being this controller is only $12, this controler can be used for lights, like the "uv" lights to make everything glow nice and pretty?
