resurrection!

I have several questions to the users of slingbox. Hope they are not too stupid questions, because I have no knowledge of slingbox or orb. Here they are:

I am thinking to buy the Pro version (which accepts cable tuner) to set it up in my brother's place. My brother has basic cable from Time Warner (no set top box), but I don't have any subscription to cable or dish at all. I believe with this tool I can watch TV from my place (6 miles from his house).

1) What are the rules and regulations around the usage of this tool? Because, in one way, it means free broadcasting for some people if the host wants to share his/her subscription.

2) Does slingbox upconverts or pass-through video signals; i.e. if the input is cable tuner, then the output should be also cable tuner? - or can you use s-video, component, or hdmi as the output options? If, indeed, you can use any output option regardless of the input, can slingbox upconverts 480i signals to 480p, 720p, or 1080i? If, indeed, it upconverts the signal, does it do that on component and hdmi level? Also, do you know whether the scalar inside the unit is a good one? (if there is a scalar of course)

3) If the TV at the source turned off, can you view/change the channels in your laptop/desktop/pda in a remote location? What happens if the source turns on his tv and starts changing channels? Can you watch different channels simultaneously with the slingbox pro model? I believe momo wrote that you can't view two different channels at the same time in one of the other models, anything is different in the pro model?

4) Physically, how it works? Is below process doable?

cable tuner > slingbox > cable tuner/component/hdmi > tv (at source)

slingbox > laptop/desktop (remote location) > hdmi/dvi > tv (at remote location)

5) Can you use 2 slingbox simultaneously? Situation: my brother has cable subscription and I have HTPC with hd-dvd/blu-ray drive built-in; and we would like to view each other's content. Is it possible to build a sharing medium with 2 slingbox pro's? i.e., :

Cable (my brother's place) > my brother's slingbox > my HTPC (my place) > my TV (watching channel 13)

at the same time:

hd-dvd movie playing in my HTPC > my slingbox > my brother's laptop > my brother's tv

which means, my htpc needs to playback/broadcast hd-dvd movie via my slingbox and at the same time captures data from my brother's slingbox and playback on my tv.

In this situation, how is he going to access my hard drive and select the movie that he wants to watch? Is my computer needs to be turned on all the time?

Sorry for the lots of noob questions!!
