Need to RMA motherboard?

Recommended Posts

I recently started getting into overclocking on my computer (in sig). These were my settings at the time:

CPU FSB Ratio Setting............ - x10

CPU n'NB Bus Ratio Setting....... - 3x

CPU Clock Setting................ - 240Mhz

DRAM Speed....................... - DDR 667

PCIE Clock Setting............... - 100Mhz

CPU Voltage Setting.............. - 1.450v

DRAM Voltage Setting............. - Auto

Chip Voltage Setting............. - Auto

HT Voltage Setting............... - Auto

1T/2T Memory Timing ............. - 2T

CAS# Latency (Tcl) .............. - 5.0

(Trcd) RAS to CAS R/W Delay ..... - 5 clocks

(Tras) Minimum RAS Active ....... - 5 clocks

(Trc) Row Cycle Time ............ - 15 bus clocks

My computer was not completely stable and not running superPI smoothly so I turned up the CPU voltage to 1.500 volts. The computer restarted, but as it was getting to the windows loading screen, it just shut off. I tried turning it back on and turning off/on the power but the fans would only move for half a second.

I took the whole computer apart and put the processor, RAM and video card back in and tried to start the computer again but the fans would still only move for half a second. Cleared CMOS for 8 hours but still nothing. I tried another PSU (that was only 20-pin and 350W) with the same results.

Is this completely a problem with my mobo and it has to be RMAed or is there something that I am overlooking that could be the problem?

Just tried the PSU in another computer and the computer booted up and functioned normally.

DFI boards are a lot more power-hungry and picky about quality components

Have you tried clearing the CMOS and doing a mnimal build outside the case?

That is exactly what I meant. I took the whole computer apart, put the mobo on the mobo pad, resat the processor/heatsink, and put in a stick of memory and my video card. Still nothing.

I have been running this computer stable at default settings since the winter. I recently started getting into overclocking and started overclocking the computer. I doubt that the power supply could be the real problem as it has been running stable for 9 months and is a good power supply (OCZ gamerxstream 700w). Though, it is still a possibility.
