You can call me aus for short :) or George if you prefer...

Welcome to the next installment of our show folks.

i have installed the drivers and clean format of windows.

heres a point form of the problems still occurring

- my pc locks up 30 seconds after booting into windows.

mouse just sticks, no errors, no flashing, noises.

- I am starting to wonder if its the hd, I cant think of anything else.

- 1 out of every 7 or 8 boots the computer wont post, and will hang at 4red leds.

a poweroff/on fixes that, and it boots.

- Also my standby led is constantly on, doesnt turn itself off.

- pcislot1 doesnt seem to be working, i had a xfi card in their, installed drivers nothing, moved it to pci3, and my windows found new hardware message popped up.

The hd is under warranty still, so i can RMA that if need be, but before i do that i want to make sure that its the problem.

Hello,

What are the rated memory timings for these modules?

Remember, just because it is memtest stable doesn't mean the memory is ok.

Clear your CMOS again for 10 mins.

Use only 1 memory stick and place it in dimm slot 2 (orange).

Remove your 8800gts,

When using the XFX PCI card in PCI slot 1, did it display anything to the monitor?

Using just that 1 stick + AUTO settings.

Does it power up all the time?

And does it ever hang in windows?

If it does hang swap the memory stick for the other one.

data lifeguard tools load in DOS if on a bootable floppy or CD, so no boot to the OS is needed, much like you are able to run memtest from as bios command, in DOS.

at least you can check out your drive that way, OR,

take the drive out and slave it to another system, run the data lifeguard tools from that system, whatever...

laterzzz

well got everything up and going on one stick of ram after the cmos cleared for 10mins.

installed all of my drivers, installed creative xf-i and dlink wireless. and everything is working good.

install video drivers, reboot, and computer works fine, but dlink card is gone from iqrs in post, the creative software doesnt read the card, etc, the two pci devices have vanished.

everything else is fine.

get a popup for found new hardware, when i click cancel it pops right up, i have to click cancel 15x before it goes away.

anyone have any idea?
