Technohydra Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I've been having trouble with my 7950 GX2 lately. Every once in a while, I'll get an NV4_disp.dll BSOD. The card temps are fine...Also, after about 24 hours of being on(load or idle), the screen will flick to black when a window is opening, and occationally will cause screen artifacting. Is this the sign that my gpu is crapping out on me? I'm replacing it with a 8600 GT for the time being to see if that clears things up. AnUnknownSource Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I'd look at a driver issue, have you tried another forceware release to see if that stops your issue? Or even a de-install, driver cleaner in safe mode and re-install process? try those first...
Angry_Games Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 drivers almost always are the cause of the BSOD you are describing. gpu death tends to be preceded by checkerboards, ghosting, locking up during 3d rendering, odd artifacts on the screen, etc. Rarely does a dead/dying gpu leave a bsod (but it isn't so rare that I've never witnessed it...au contraire my hydrated techno friend, it has happened, but 99% of my vid cards that went belly up didn't give me a single bsod)
Technohydra Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hmmm...I'll play around with it some more. I'd hate to lose this beast. It's big, but it performs.

Technohydra Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 It's a Dell re-brand, so I have no idea who the OEM is. I thought it was an XFX, but I'm not thinking so anymore...
