rainwood Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Toys R Us already selling BioShock? I could not find it at the local store (though I pre-ordered it, I just could not help…) Did anyone get it?
Angry_Games Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 already played the 360 demo, its gonna be awesome but not on consoles (on PC since it's FPS...looks and plays awesome on Xbox360, but I HATE controllers for FPS games) can't wait for it to hit PC ps Gamespy already gave it 5 stars out of 5 stars and are crowing about how awesome it is. Coors Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 You'd think that since the 360 has usb ports you could use a kb/mouse on it. All they would have to do is make drivers right?
Angry_Games Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 they can use standard drivers that are generic...but the problem is, the games are coded for controller calibration...unless a dev specifically enables mouse calibration, its actually worse than playing with a controller because of how far you have to move the mouse to get any response, and then it jerks because it's calibrated for an analog controller stick...grrrr...but then again, if we could use mouse/kb and they were properly supported by the game, we'd annihilate every last freaking person in every last fps that was using a controller lol...it would be an UGLY slaughter) the other thing to think about is who wants to sit in their easy chair or on the couch with a mouse, mousepad, keyboard, all strung around your lap or something. Sure you could make a table or jiffy-tech some card table or the coffee table etc to set it up, but the console is all about sitting on the couch or in your lazy-boy and enjoying a great game...me I love kicking back with my controller on the couch or the rocker..I hate using my laptop while I'm in these seats so using a mouse/kb for my console would just piss me off a lot heh. rainwood Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 never play FPS on a computer with a gamepad...it's like worshipping Satan openly at a Catholic Mass ... but I''ll use "Ideazon Fang gamepad"
Angry_Games Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 nope, still like worshipping satan at catholic mass...it's not a real mouse/kb combination so no matter how good the pad is, without proper mouse support and a real mouse, it's a pile of butt. I'll wait for the PC version so I can use mouse/kb
Smoken Joe Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 The game is getting tons of 9.5-10 scores which is unheard of. It is getting the highest sores of any game that I remember. Higher than HL2 and doom 3. I cant wait. I will agree on the FPS and a console it just doesnt work.Bo way to get around the programing. Even games that were ported to the computer just dont work well that is life and some games are better on the controller though I will alwas choose a computer over a console given the choice. ArchVile Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 started pre-loading via steam a few hours ago. cant wait till tuesday!!!
rainwood Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 started pre-loading via steam a few hours ago. cant wait till tuesday!!! I can’t wait, either. Shall we start countdown? 4! ...wait. steam? Oh, no. Let me tell about how installation goes with steam from my experience in installation of Dark Messiah and Lost Planet. 1. Inserted the installation CD / DVD. 2. Prompted me to install steam; I already had steam by Half Life 2. 3. Steam kicked in – started downloading the game. “Downloading the game”? So what %@*k did the installation wizard ask me to choose the destination directory? Anyway, steam just kept on downloading. After five hours, it was still downloading (I am using the cable modem!). I shut down my box and went to bed crying (I can’t leave my box running for some reasons and I can’t stay up all night– I have a day time job). After all, it took two days to complete download. I was not able to start playing the games on the same day I bought. Very, very, frustrated. I just wish the BioShock installation DVD does not come with steam…
Angry_Games Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Bioshock shouldn't come with Steam since it isn't a Valve game. However Bioshock is available through Steam so if you get it from Steam you have to put up with the preloading etc (even if you finished downloading it last night, you couldn't unlock it until Tuesday right?). red930 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I've taken to liking Steam. It's very convenient just having them there and no need for CD-keys. I'll probably get this soon, might wait a month after its release though.
