Guest Rainstorm Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Hi Which chipset, & motherboard would be best for a 1333 Mhz Core 2 duo intel cpu ? - I'll be getting the 2.66 Ghz one most probably (E6750). (On the intel comparison chart page.. there are no compatible chipset or motherboards..mentioned for the 1333 Mhz ones) - Its been quite long since I've built a system..& there seems to be so much around. - any kinda tips,..advice on choosing a motherboard.., features to look for & things i need to be wary of or avoid.. would also be a big help. (concerning the brand am thinking Gigabyte or Asus.. but would be open to any suggestions of course) I won't be overclocking, & am looking for a board with an emphasis on stability. - Its not gonna be a system for gaming. _ but i need for it to function well under heavy usage & all other situations.. I'll be using onboard sound & graphics for now, - so also would really appreciate any advice on the best onboard sound & graphics chips to look for on a motherboard. - If its possible for someone to post the name especially of the best graphic onboard chip(s) so that while going through different boards I know what to look for. Thanks a lot.. Rainstorm -
Devil 07 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 If stability is your big thing go with Intel. nVidia is better for gaming, which you aren't gonna do.
Guest Rainstorm Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 yes looking for stability most of all... I want a board that supports a core2Duo 1333 mhz.. but that has onboard graphics. - Many of the boards that support 1333 mhz, don't have onboard graphics.. : / looking for an Asus most probably..(or Gigabyte) but am open to suggestions.. would much appreciate some help & feedback......am at a kind of standstill. CopyNinjaKakash Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 These are 3 intel mobos off of newegg with integrated graphics and 1333 mhz http://tinyurl.com/37olc3
Guest Rainstorm Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 CopyNinjaKakash, Thanks a lot for that link.. was helpful - very nice that all 3 have firewire too. the 2 ATX ones don't list any 'Audio ports' while the micro-ATX one lists 3.. don't know what to make of that exactly..- here's the link to the comparison chart.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompa...N82E16813121100 reasonable prices too EDIT: I think I made a mistake & posted this here..I intended to post it in the Motherboards-Intel Sub-forum - would appreciate if it could be moved to the right sub-forum.. (if possible) Thankyou Rainstorm
Coors Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 If you're looking for an mATX board I'd check these out as well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128053 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128060 I plan on getting the first one when I build a new computer. Unless of course the x38 chipset is out by the time I start building.
radodrill Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 the 2 ATX ones don't list any 'Audio ports' while the micro-ATX one lists 3.. don't know what to make of that exactly. If you look at the specs/pictures; they all have Line in, line/speaker/headphone out, and mic in. EDIT: I think I made a mistake & posted this here..I intended to post it in the Motherboards-Intel Sub-forum - would appreciate if it could be moved to the right sub-forum.. (if possible) You posted in the right section; since you're asking for recommendations on a motherboard.
Guest Rainstorm Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Raiderfan001, Many thanks for the links, Both seem like nice boards & seem to have features that other boards in that category don't have. I have had gigabyte boards in the past & not had probs. - However after reading stuff on boards recently about different kinds of problems with Gigabyte boards.. just out of the box..& in some cases people having to do away with the boards,..I was put off. In sone cases.. even the better boards.. where after shelling out some money.. you do expect it to waork trouble free under normal conditions- am looking for stabilty most of all in this buy & for the board to work trouble free just out of the box. Those ones you posted though .. do have interesting options like the ICH9R in the GA-G33M-DS2R,..- both also have the 8 channel sound (something am looking for) & 6 Audio ports. they are pretty much the same except that one has raid ..& some extra slots. & cheaper than the ASUS counterparts in the same category.. the reviews there for the GA-G33M-DS2R say it needs a BIOS update. No reviews there for the GA-G33M-S2.... it looks very tempting for the price & has pretty much of what am looking for except that it doesn't seem to have a PATA slot : / I have IDE drives that i may want to hook up or swap from other machines now & then.. though the main system drive will be SATA. -

Coors Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I'm currently running a Gigabyte board (my first mobo after DFI) and it's been nothing but awesome. My next mobo will probably also be a Gigabyte but who knows....someone else might release something that catches my eye. And if you look at the picture of the GA-G33M-S2 it does in fact have a pata slot.
