ButchGod Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 How much trouble (if any) will I encounter when I try to hook-up 2 Maxtor 6L300S0 HD's. I have one installed already. I gues one would install to SATA 1 AND the other to SATA
suedenim Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 none what so ever so long as you keep them off the unlocked SATA ports (1+2) assuming you overclock. Adjst the BIOS settings - auto detect should be fine and thats it really. Things get a tad more involved if you plan to RAID them. ButchGod Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Okay 1st it's not overclocked. Now I have 1 sata connected trying to get 2nd going. What should I do in the bios because comp refuses to boot if I try booting with both drive connected and plugged into 1&
radodrill Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Possible the port is only SATA; while your drive is jumpered as SATA2
red930 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 if your going to overclock past 243 FSB you have to use sata ports 3 &
ButchGod Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Haven't oc'd but will try diff ports
red930 Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 the sata 3 & 4 ports are locked. there by the cpu
ButchGod Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Using port 3 right now. When I try using 3&4 it does the same as when I try 1 &2. Boot order is to HD and that works but as soon as I try the 2nd drive nothing
radodrill Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 As I stated earlier; check the jumper settings of your new HDD. The NF3 ULTRA-D only supports SATA (1.5Gbps) while most new drives are SATA2 (3.0Gbps) and must be jumpered when they're used on regular SATA ports.
