Stock (1.28V in Bios) voltage didn't work, but it's auto voltage seems to be working quite well, and with little temp difference too (1.32V according to CPUz 1.40.5 and it's still hovering between 49C-55C so far)

Running Prime95 with the quad core testing capabilities as we speak, I should be reporting 3.33GHz stable around 10ish tonight if all goes well, we shall see.

I have practically everything set at auto still... I wrote most of it down though, here's my settings thus far:

System Clocks

CPU Freq, MHz ----------- 3333

FSB MHz ----------------- 1333

CPU Multi ---------------- 10 (now, was 9 for 3GHz)

PCIe 1 ------------------- 105

PCIe 3 ------------------- 100

PCIe 2 ------------------- 105

SPP <-> MCP Ref Clock --- 200

nForce SPP-->MCP ------- 5x

nForce SPP<--MCP ------- 5x

FSB & Memory Configuration

SLI-Ready RAM ----------- Disabled (it won't boot up in to windows when Enabled)

FSB-Mem Clock Mode ----- Auto

FSB-Mem Ratio ----------- Auto

FSB (QDR), MHz ---------- Auto (1333.3)

Actual FSB ------------ 1333.3

Mem DDR, MHz ----------- Auto

Actual Mem ----------- 800

Memory Timing Settings

Mem Timing Setting ------ Optimal

CAS Latency ------------- Auto (5)

tRCD -------------------- Auto (5)

tRP ---------------------- Auto (5)

tRAS -------------------- Auto (18)

CPC CMD ---------------- Auto (2T)

Advanced

tRRD -------------------- Auto (3)

tRC --------------------- Auto (24)

tWR -------------------- Auto (5)

tWTR ------------------- Auto (9)

tREF -------------------- Auto (7.8us)

CPU Configuration

Limit CPUID Max --------- Disabled

Intel SpeedStep --------- Disabled

xPPM Mode ------------ (Native Mode)

CPU Thermal Con. ------- Disabled

System Voltages

CPU Core --------------- Auto (1.35V)

CPU FSB ---------------- Auto (1.2V)

Memory ----------------- Auto (1.85V)

nForce SPP ------------- Auto (1.4V)

nForce MCP ------------- Auto (1.5V)

HT SPP<->MCP ---------- Auto (1.2V)

And that pretty much does it... any suggestions anyone? In the event it passes Prime at 3.333GHz I'd love to tighten everything up as much as possible, but where should I begin?

And a bit of an update, temps have now reached 62C at most, fluctuating up and down from 53-62C as the AC turns on and off.

Well... that was spectacular ::quotes form the other thread to save time::

Just hit 5 hours in then all of the sudden my computer acted like the power went out :-

What does that mean? Temps as far as I know were still in the 50C-63C range so it wasn't overheating... I was just typin' along on a thread then black screen... Esh, that's 5 hours wasted.

Any thoughts on what it might be?

Really ticks me off, pretty sure it was a power flicker or something, the battery I have this thing on is only made to handle 680 watts so it's not exactly qualified to have a 1010 Watt PSU plugged in to it.

ADDED BY EDIT (from the next post which I deleted now):

... Holy crap I love this new system...

I just ran FEAR at 8xAA, 1920x1200, Maximum settings, with VSync & Triple Buffering On, and got 58FPS minimum, 59FPS Average & 63 FPS Maximum... that's insane! LOL

Well, it happened again while I was sitting here doing nothing... if it keeps it up I'm going to reinstall windows again or something...

Since no one's being helpful with settings or what voltage I should be at, or what temperatures I should be weary of, I have no idea what to do.

ADDED BY EDIT:

Got tired of the motherboard deciding what's appropriate for my CPU so I just set back to stock and I'm priming again at 3GHz, but with the voltage at the Intel-suggested stock voltage of 1.1Vs (showing 1.104-1.12V in CPUz), temps are in the 35-41C range so far... far cry from my last test at stock, that's for sure.

Gonna run it for a full 24 hours since I set it to use a little less RAM so I can actually do things... we'll see. If the power thing happens again I'm going to assume it's my PSU and probably RMA it through Newegg and get a replacement.

ADDED BY EDIT:

Well that froze and rebooted after a few minutes... trying voltage at 1.225V in BIOS settings now (CPUz is reading out 1.152-1.16Vs). Priming again... ::Goes back to what she was doing before it froze::

ADDED BY EDIT:

Well, I ain't wastin' my damn day and a half testing this thing for stock stability when it passed 9 hours today of it... I'm priming at 3.333GHz again at whatever voltage the motherboard picked... if it fails/freezes at 5 hours ago, I'll know it's an issue... an issue with what? No idea.

Wish someone had some experience that would help me out cuz this freakin' blows, have no idea what to adjust if something happens cuz of being Intel/Core 2 illiterate...

Well that failed at some point last night, so I'm back at 3GHz trying to get a Stock Database Entry, passed all 3Dmarks with flying colors (Single card scores so not too impressive, but it passed them and that's what matters)

hey charmed, what revision of the 680i do you have, will show in cpu-z. I have the a2 and it really seems to like the 8x multi more than anything. Had the best luck leaving everything but cpu and vdimm voltages on auto.

Currently 437x8 at 1.412v loading at mid 50's under water

PS you can run these g0's warmer, 71c and under 24/7 and thats not the temp of the cores, but the cpu temp.

Um... y'think? LOL

I'm nearly clearing 200FPS in FEAR on Max/Max, with SLI on the Opty I was barely hitting 130FPS Average.

And it happened AGAIN WHILE TESTING AT STOCK!!!!

FIVE HOURS to the dot, in to testing it just FREEZES!

I'm starting to think I should just RMA the whole damn thing and get replacement parts across the board. . me off that this damn thing can't pass a simple stability test. Is there ANYTHING in my settings that might be causing this? 5 hours is a long time for something to run and then decide to freeze.

Yes, I have an A2.

And I can't use the 8x multi cuz that would LOWER my CPU speed, and if I set the freakin' RAM/FSB to be UNLINKED it won't freakin' boot up in to windows without restarting again...

I'm very close to calling it quits and sending the whole damn system back, never had this much damn trouble getting it stable AT STOCK.

ADDED BY EDIT:

And look again, the "thermal" whatever limit of mine is lower than yours, which is also bull****.

Knew I shoulda waited for the AMD quad cores, going to be very pissed if I end up having to send all this crap back and get refunds cuz it won't work... ::having to contain her language cuz she's extremely pissed off::

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=slafn ~~~ Really wish it'd freakin' WORK at one of those voltages. But it won't work at 1.1, and I just tested it at 1.225V in BIOS and it failed after 5 hours... just getting extremely frustrated, all I want is a computer that works but apparently that's too much to ask for.

ADDED BY EDIT:

Execute Disable Bit 1 - 1 Enabling Execute Disable Bit functionality requires a PC with a processor with Execute Disable Bit capability and a supporting operating system. Check with your PC manufacturer on whether your system delivers Execute Disable Bit functionality.

Should I have that enabled or disabled?

I always shut it off, just figure that the more things running the more things to muck stuff up. All I have on is virtualization

try taking the ram off auto, unlink, set it to 800mhz and also take it off auto 2t and set it to 2t.

The stock vcore should not be 1.22v right? 1.3v would seem right to me
