CheeseMan42 Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 My CD Rom won't recognize any disc that I put in. I have tried everything that the manual suggests. I also checked to make sure that all the cables were connected correctly. I had the drive for over a year before having any problems. It also happened once before but lasted only one or two days, this one has lasted a couple of months. I looked in the device manager and the drive is recognized and is supposedly working. The drive will open it just won't recognize any disc. I have no idea what to do and need some help.

CheeseMan42 Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Is there any way to fix this? If so do I need to take it to someone or can I fix it myself?
O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Clean it; I took my cdrom drive apart and cleaned it--alittle dirt was inside. After that it detects everything perfectly.
CheeseMan42 Posted December 2, 2003 Posted December 2, 2003 What would be a good way to clean it? Should i just blow the dust out?
kobalt Posted December 2, 2003 Posted December 2, 2003 (edited) Once every so often i use a lens brush with a rubber ball like blower attached to it and i dust the whole thing (sold in camera stores) And you're right O(V)eGA_l2el) it could be just dust no shop-vac on those things Edited December 2, 2003 by kobalt
