my c2d system needs some ram!

Recommended Posts

Can yall look over these parts and give me your comments/suggestions? I've got the cpu and motherboard picked out, but I'm pretty much clueless as to what ram to go with  I was thinking of going with these, since they have the tightest timings (4-4-3-5) and will hopefully allow me to overclock better then the others if I loosen the timings. Thanks :)

I have a set of the G.Skill HK, they are decent. DDR900 4 4 4 and DDR1000 5 5 5 12 on less than 2 volts. The HZ's are a better set than the HK's though.

Not real fond of your choice of board though. With a 6700 you would be much further ahead with a 975X based board, something preferably not in the budget lineup.

I'd get the g.skill HZ's. Especially at that price seeing as how I paid more than $300 for them not too long ago.

what advantages do the 975x boards have over the 965p-s3?

At any given clock speed 975 has performed better for me. No, not for superpi, but in real world applications. I've yet to run superpi. I'm not sure about gaming though.
