markpcfixer Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I have had continual problems with the opteron 144 running any memory in dual channel, including OCZ and gskill. I am finally giving up and getting a San Diego core 3700+. Which bios would be the best for that core as well as the ADATA memory? I would like to be able to achieve dual channel. I cannot currently afford any more memory, so I'm stuck with either the ADATA, or a combination of dual channel kits OCZ and either pqi or gskill (in my wife's computer, can't remember which at this time, I'll try to look inside later). Any ideas?

markpcfixer Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 How do I find out which chips my memory uses? They are in red heat spreaders and those do not want to come off. They are the Adata Vitesta DDR400, but not the extreme ones. These have CAS 3, and have "supreme speed" written on them. Thanks for your help. red930 Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=415294 http://www.techpowerup.com/memdb/ Â Well if there pc4000 its not a good sign. and understandable why your having trouble as Hynix anything don't like AMD. There grate for intal. If your lucky there TccD or Winbond BH-5 or 6. Your sig says there BH-5. And BH-5 loves Vidd
markpcfixer Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Well, I took off the heat spreader on one stick and the chips say... AData AD0960BABA-5cg, or something like that. the writing is very small. Did ADATA rebrand those chips? If so, how do I find out the original manufacturer? I really appreciate all your help.

markpcfixer Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 As it stands now, the two 1Gb sticks will run in the top two slots (single channel), but will not run dual channel, no matter what settings I use in bios. I have tried several bioses, plus run through at least 7 or 8 different settings found on this board and others, still no go. I'm hoping it's just my opteron, and the new San Diego cpu will work better. I'll know soon.
red930 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 you using the orange slots?
markpcfixer Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I have tried using the orange slots and the yellow ones as well. I have tried everything mentioned in this forum. If the new cpu doesn't help, I guess I'll have to rma the board.
