eYe Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Hi everyone. I enjoy playing a good FPS game and i decided to replaced my old mx510 mouse for some of the new mouses out there. After some research im inclined towards the Logitech G5. What i need to know is your toughts about this mouse and other that might be equal or better. The only restriction is it must be corded mouse. Thanks in advance.
red930 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Look for a Razer-branded product for gaming, like the Diamondback.
taowulf Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I picked up an older Razor not too long ago and I can't complain. It is superior to my old MS optical.
mentul Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I love my Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0. No mouse greater than mine exists! I may be a bit biased. :tooth: P.S. I hated Razer software.
JackOrlowski Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 My 2 cents: I got a Razer diamondback about 6 months ago. Small problem despite all its friggin awesome features. It continuously reset all the settings on start up. I put up with it for about a month or so. It would totally forget whatever settings I had programed into it with the software and go to the highest DPI/ default settings. After a bit of research it became apparent that it was a conflict/bug with the nF4 chip set and that to date no amount of patching would fix it. I went back to my old Logitech MX310 with its half worn off feet and now use the Razer on my T40 laptop @ work and for travel. I have not checked recently if the problem has been resolved but it was a stinker. Some other con's for the Razer is the finish of the mouse, its laser tracking and the feet. First the finish of the mouse seems to attract a class of dirt and grime that is not so easily wiped away with some windex. Damn lasers go crazy if a hair or a piece of dust obscures the lens ( a LED is much more tolerant of such mishaps). The replaceable feet are nice but one of my feet just peeled right off out of the box, granted I did stick it back on and it been OK. I shouldn't have to deal with a "high end" mouses feet falling off. I want the to be glued on with an adhesive that requires a proprietary solvent to remove!! Any who that my 2 cents.. eYe Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Thanks for the responses, ill be waiting for some comment on someone who owns a logitech mouse. But from JackOrlowski post, im even more inclined to logitech.
WintersFury Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I've been using a G5 for about a year now. Great mouse. I love how I can put the weights in it to make it nice and hefty (I like a heavy mouse). You can also make it very light by adding little to no weight to it. It is a bit bigger than say a microsoft standard mouse, but I rathermuch like that as well. The 2000dpi setting is insanely fast and I rarely use it. Though I could turn it down to 1000 or something with the software it comes with. Having all the buttons on it is nice as well. When this one dies, I'll get another or a wireless version. Sure I could try a different mouse, but I'd rather go with something I already know and love than try and find something else. Hemidare Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I have the mx-518 and it is an awesome mouse i like the switch on the fly dpi settings. and you never have to worry about your settings changing or anything cause there are none to change. Awesome mouse for the money. Just my .
Branjo Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I love my Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0. No mouse greater than mine exists! I may be a bit biased. :tooth: P.S. I hated Razer software. I would have to agree with that, My Explorer 3 was the best I have used until it died right in the middle of an intense game of BF2 when I was having a showdown with another tank and the turret just stopped. I have a Logitech MX1000 now and its great but! its wireless and going by what Logitech said, the batteries should last a month with extensive use. mine lasts three days max on a full charge. I would take wireless over corded any day of the week and twice on sundays. If you learn to put it back in its dock at night then all is well. PS going from optical to lazer was no different to me at all.
