DQ6 was the culprit!

Recommended Posts

Well after 10 days and trying everything possible I was finally ready to give up on the DQ6. I set up the RMA but since ZZF doesnt have any in stock now I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks. Brutal!

So I ordered a DS3 on Monday from Newegg (would have ordered the DQ6 from them, but they were out of stock at the time) and it arrived on Tuesday. Put it in last night and everything went together perfectly. Memtest passed 10 times with no errors, so I set up the raid 0 and installed windows. Everything went perfectly, so I started running orthos. 8 hours later no warnings no errors!

To think that the whole time the motherboard was causing that nightmare. What a drag.

Thanks to all who helped me thru that mess. In 6 weeks when I get the DQ6 back I think i'll beef up one of my nforce 2 systems.

My next rig will have either a Ds3 or a LP 680i. All depending on what I can get my hands on for cheap.

I trust that the DS3 will OC better, though if I ever plan on going SLI I want a good 2x16 channel mobo.

My expert is the most stable mobo I have ever tweaked out. Once a DFI mobo is set and stable, notthing will crash it.

The only issues I have had with DFI mobo's is that Creative Drivers and Video OC'ing will crash it once in a while. But I am sure any funky Video OC will crash any system. But nothing really explain why I have to remove and install the audio drivers like 3-4 times before it sticks, works and still is stable.

I run winamp with 5.1, Orthos and with Ati Tool doing a Temp Test. If it handles that for 8 hours, its good. The first 3 times Winamp Crashed it because of the Creative drivers. Then the Video OC shut it down. Once I got a better OC with lower temps and settings, it was straight.

Though I have to help my buddy with his DQ6. His bios is just messed up. It will not let him increase the FSB or get into his Memory timings settings.

F1 didnt open it for him. I told him that he should just update to the newest driver. Unfortunately he is not a bios friendly person and thinks that if he attemps he will screw it all up. I will not hold his hand through it, but I will help him troubel shoot the simple OC stuff. He needs to just get in there and read up untill he gets it worked out.
