Lord And Icon Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Does anyone know if the Ultra-D is ok for overclocking a FX-60 or any other dual core for that matter?? My Fx-60 is running fine @3gb (250x12) but if I go 1 fsb higher i get the BSOD saying core 2 failed to report in time. I tried upping the volts but had no joy. Also my temp read:- Core 1 = 47c Core 2 = 36c The Ultra-D only has a 4 pin power connector for the CPU (EPS I think its called) whereas the NF4 Expert has the 8 pin connector. My power supply has 2x 4pin labled CPU1 and CPU2. Is the failing in overclocking due to the lack of power to the second core?? The temps would seem to show this but does any one have an answer?? Thanks Phil
Kingfisher Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Why are you worried about your overclock? You say you are at 3 ghz, higher than a stock fx-60, no? Anything over it's stock speed is gravy. Some chips clock better than others. Your Ultra-D is a great overclocking board and the fact it has a 4 -pin cpu power connector has nothing to do with a motherboard that uses an 8- pin EPS connector. Lord And Icon Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Not worried as such just want to get the best out of my rig. I only asked the question as I'm new to the dual core seen and didnt know if the 4 or 8 pin power connector made a difference. I can get 3159 @ 1.5 volts but run into heat problems. Water cooling on its way
