tony8404 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I have been tweaking my bios last few days and i know there is dual lan on this board cfx3200 dr/g. What are we supposed to set in the bios ? From what i remember the options go like this on default Lan 1 Enabled Lan 2 Enabled Lan 2-Rom Disabled From there i usually just Enable Lan 1 and disable Lan2 and Lan2 Rom Is that how were are supposed to set that in the bios ? or do we enable lan1, lan2 and disable lan2 rom? Not sure what the benefit of having Lan1 and Lan2 enabled or even having all three enabled? anyone know or can help me out with this? thanks
CPDMF Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 If you are not using it disable it. One less thing the chipsets have to control. How is the CFX3200 treating you? I had three of them, overclocking beasts I must say but that's about where it ended for me. Too many other issues that never got resolved before DFI completely dropped support for them. wardog Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 One of the uses is you can make a two computer network using a crossover cable between two boards having two NICs each. With some playing around one can be used as a pass-through to the internet for the other too. Past that though you're right. I haven't a clue for the existance of two NICs on one board. I suppose the network thing could come in handy for those that don't have a router etc available to them.
tony8404 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 oh geez, here i thought i was overlooking some kinda of performance boost.. here when i first bought the board i went ahead and hooked up both lan connections to my router thinking hey two is better then one.. i was thinking that i was getting twice the speed... Wow, now i look back at that and just smile is all i can say... cause i remember i was happier then poop thinking wow i have twice the connection.. oh god ! DysfunktinaL Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Heh, one could always set up thier ports to set one for incoming only, and the other for outgoing? I dunno why you'd want to do that unless you were using it as a server though on something other than a cable or DSL line... And there are better boards for servers if that is the case, lol. Guest Lavell Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 This will depend on how the IRQs are arranged in Windows XP. In my case, I've disable LAN 1 & LAN 2 ROM and enable LAN 2 According to Windows XP, with my system (see sig) I have a X-Fi sound card, Radeon X1900 Crossfire Edition and LAN 1 that share IRQ 18. On IRQ 19, I have Radeon X1900 XTX, Uli SATA/RAID Controller and LAN 2. Since there's less traffic on IRQ 19, I've made the decision to disable LAN 1 and enable LAN 2 for best performance. It works for me. I have been tweaking my bios last few days and i know there is dual lan on this board cfx3200 dr/g. What are we supposed to set in the bios ?
