red930 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Pulled from the story linked below. How much money does it take to screw in a compact fluorescent light bulb? About US$4.28 for the bulb and labour -- unless you break the bulb. Then you, like Brandy Bridges of Ellsworth, Maine, could be looking at a cost of about US$2,004.28, which doesn't include the costs of frayed nerves and risks to health. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/financi...84-b62dee548fda I had forgotten that these CFL's contained mercury just like their larger cousings. Kinda scary!
radodrill Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 LOL Greenpeace does it again. I personally don't like the light emitted by fluorescent bulbs; since it hurts my eyes. And with all the mercury that's in the CFLs; who'd want that in their house?
momoceio Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 What about when all these bulbs go to the landfill after they burn out? Even if there is a recycling program it's not like people would use it.

General Septem Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 This is all I have to say:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYFu__Q9ASU LOL :shake: :shake: Protect the environment - or I'll f*king kill you! I like the LED technology lately. For ambient lighting I think a few strips of LEDs should work great if you're trying to conserve energy. If you want something really cool to do with those fluorescent lamps, though: http://www.emanator.demon.co.uk/bigclive/hamster.htm
