madu Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Hey guys... need some help with the Vista driver compatibility... I'm planning on buyin a laptop with Windows Vista Business on it... but it will be a Japanese version so I will be downgrading it to a XP professional... I have a little cofusion over choosing Vista or XP professional as the pre-installed OS.. I have the option to choose either Vista or XP, but they both will be in Japanese so I have to install an english version anyway.. the problem is, the drivers that come for the Vista, would it be compatible when I install XP..? or is it safe to order with the XP itself... I like to have the Vista option so that someday I can upgrade to a Vista Ultimate, although at this moment Vista is not my choice... are the Vista drivers backward compatible with the XP? Also the laptop will be a Lenovo T60, so if someone has any experience with it, please do comment... Thanks a million guys..

Guest thespin Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Just install and try it. I didn't have a Win x64 driver for my Canon scanner so I tried the Vista x64 driver and it worked like a champ ...
Branjo Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I did a google and there seem to be both XP and Vista drivers available for the T60. You can always repartition the hard drive with certain software and install both XP and Vista in a dual boot configuration. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62928.html
