RobNyc Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Usually the Opteron/Athlon X2 heatsinks have heatpipes and are beefier than the standard, no-pipe cooler. The Freezer Pro 64 does a decent job at cooling, but don't expect to go too far. My 165 hit 2.6GHz with 1.4v and temps hit 54C load. THis dude I know over irc.. has a 3600+ x2 am2 @ 2.75ghz and he idles 18c and 34load .. he said his cpu chip is like overvolted or something forgot what he said. but yea he has 65nm technology too but ah I'll just go with what the reviews mostly say. RobNyc Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Neither one of those. It's not a tower, it's more like the SI-120. anandtech.com has tested the best coolers and the winners are Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (new), Thermalright Ultra 120, Tuniq Tower 120 .. these are the top 3... RobNyc Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Did they test the Ultra-X? The Ultra-X is the EXtreme if im not mistaken
General Septem Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 The Ultra-X is the EXtreme if im not mistaken Enzotech Ultra-X: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...enzotech_9.html Even outperformed the GeminII: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...-geminii_7.html
RobNyc Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Enzotech Ultra-X: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...enzotech_9.html Even outperformed the GeminII: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...-geminii_7.html So Maybe anandtech forgot about that 1. But in this test is better than that one for the fact is being tested on x6800 stock speed an oc'ed.. http://anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2943&p=3 http://anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2962 http://anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2965 Well I thought it made more sense with a x6800 since its so fast it produces more heat no matter what Hope everyone like this I noticed they didn't even added the Tuniq to the test http://anandtech.com/casecooling/showdoc.aspx?i=2906
ReelFiles Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I am a big fan of the Tuniq, near silent, lightweight for it's size and excellent temps.
General Septem Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I like my Tuniq too. It was worthless before I lapped it, but at that my IHS needed lapping too. I lapped them both so smooth and flat that placing the two surfaces together creates suction, and now it works great.
ReelFiles Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I never lapped mine, I am satisfied, but I am sure it helps.
General Septem Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I never lapped mine, I am satisfied, but I am sure it helps. I think it had more to do with the IHS, but lapping helped load temps by almost 20 C. It would Orthos at around 68-69 on core 1. Hey steve.. nice pic thanks You got the non-expert board, my expert should be arriving this week. What is lapping ? I wonder how much difference would the stock Opteron HSF vs 64 freezer pro do .. until I save for the Tuniq
