taowulf Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Hey guys...is someone slacking on the job? Nvidia has the 8500 and 8600 cards listed on their site now. I checked newegg and saw the 8600 GTS listed from $199 to $229. No sign of the 8600 GTX yet though....looks like Nvidia got tired of waiting for ATI to get crackin with the R600s and decided that DX10 capable cards needed a bit o' love. ebdoradz Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 saw 8600GTS for 194$CAD on pccanada.com and they wont be any 8600GTX
Darkorb Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 theres gonna be a 8600ultra i believe. but right now, the 8600xx sucks butt compared to the 1950pro, and like a 8800's, but we dont no how they will do in dx10 apps, but still i would expect it to beat the dx9 cards. w/e, its only 128 bit

red930 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 With these two vendors of graphics processors, there's virtually no competition or incentive to give more performance at any price point. I may sit out these entire lines of video cards since they haven't offered anything in the way of performance versus price. Since any applications that will really stress these cards are still months away, it makes more sense to buy a last gen card now and wait for the latest and greatest when there's something that actually needs the hardware. Two 7800GTX cards in SLI still fill the bill on everything out there now.
Guest LookBackX2 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 ...since they haven't offered anything in the way of performance versus price. I bought an 8800gts because right now it is a Price/performance leader @ under 3 bills. Plus I have a good upgrade path which will only get cheaper the longer they wait to get DX10 software to consumers.

And the 7900GS is just a tad cheaper. So there is your upgrade....but without DX10. From the reviews I have read though, if Hi-Def video is your goal, the 8600 is the way to go. Guess what, the card can't take it all the way! I mean if you love to play games over 80fps this is not happening on a 21" screen! Not even talking about 24" or more! I guess when Crysis comes out many people will change their minds! I mean If you a gamer and want a good performance! BTW: By the time ATI wakes up Nvidia will have another line of cards ready! How about 8900GTX with DDR4 Mem?
