CODESEVEN Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I have an DFI nf4 SLI-DR mobo, AMD 3700+ SD, 2gigs Crucial Ballistix, with a single BFG 7800 GTX video card. I want to add another video card for SLI. 1) Does it have to be the another 7800? same brand(BFG)? Or can it be a higher (7900/7950) or lower rated card? 2) Is the 3700+ enough to power 2 cards? Thanks! PS: Oops! forgot about my comps stats already posted below.
thejamesvolta Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 1. It needs to be another 7800gtx. Doesn't have to be the same brand. 2. More than enough
Coors Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Also if you get a card that runs at different speeds it will force the faster one to run at the same speed as the slower one. And considering the prices of most 7800's I've seen retail you would probably be better off getting a used one. But I would suggest just getting a newer faster card. An 8800gts would be much better than two 7800's in SLI
CODESEVEN Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Thanks. From what I've been reading in the mean time it looks like a single newer card is now better than two of my cards in SLI! GEEZ!
