Do you mean you just need to access your pc's personel contents or hard drive info? What sata connectors are you using? Try changing them. I had a similar issue: standby light lit on mobo and the psu could spin fans on the 5v and 12v lines, but pressing the power button did nothing. A new psu fixed the problem.
