uneedav8 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 I need a really cheap PCI-E card for a system. It seems that at the bottom of the barrel with sub $100 cards, you get nvidia's turbo cache and ati's hyper memory (ex: NV6200 series or ATI X300SE). This is suppose to use system RAM when it is needed by the graphics card. This does not sound too good in my opinion. Does anyone know more about this? Should these cards completely be avoided? I dont want to spend any more than I have to for a system that sees no crazy 3D action except screen savers but I dont want any RAM taken up either if it isn't necessary. Thanks for any help. UncleDavid218 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 As long as you're not playing games it definitely won't use system memory I'm putting an X300SE in a folding rig and I have an X1400 in my laptop that can borrow up to 256MB of RAM but it doesn't unless I'm gaming
