I have an nf4 lanparty ut ultra-d with the build in karajan audio module and recently set up a logitech z-5550 5.1 system. I already put $325 into that and I want to know what the difference would be if I bought a blueGears b-inspirer soundcard? sry for a nooby question

don't know about that sound card, but if you use the digital optical/coaxial out to your speakers, the onboard Realtek will actually sound extremely nice.

however, myself, I ONLY use PCI sound cards (SB Audigy/Audigy2/Turtle Beach/etc)

what are you mainly using the computer for? If games, I'd definitely go with a Creative Audigy2/X-Fi.

If music, you'd probably want an Azuntech.

If creating music then you probably want an M-Audio or EMU.

Seconded. One thing to note is that Creative refuses to make Winblows Vista drivers for the Audigy series cards.

The onboard audio doesn't support openAL... so some games like Quake 4 will sound like crap at times... weigh the pros and cons versus the money you'll spend...

but being at an overclocker's forum, you probably don't mind spending money on something that'll only get ya a slight performance increase :-)
