Ghost didnt support raid arrays for dfi boards?

Recommended Posts

Just replaced ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe by DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert. The problem is that I can create the image from inside Windows, but when I boot for the Norton Ghost 8 or 9 CD I cannot see the array. I had no problem with ASUS board. Looks like ghost didnt support nvraid arrays for dfi boards? Please help!!! Thanks.

I realise this is an older thread but . . .

Norton ghost for DOS (7.0, 7.5, 8.2, 11, 2003) will work on any hardware RAID, that is, a RAID that does not need to have any drivers loaded.

Software RAIDS are not supported by GHOST.

Does anyone know if the lastest Norton Ghost v.14 finally has support for the new Intel Chipsets? I'm trying to make an image of the RAID-ZERO configuration using the GigaByte Controller on the Intel P35 chipset, but no go on either Acronis latest suites or the Ghost v.12.

P.S: Not sure why Norton skipped Ghost v.13 and went straight to v.14....

maybe 13 is NOT their lucky number:eek:

not uncommon for companies and people to skip the number 13, many tall buildings skip the 13th floor (12, then 14), plus much more....superstitions....

where's my rabbit foot???

LOL

Ghost 8 defo dos'nt support Nv raid, i don't know about Ghost 9. But Acronis True image does and it does it better than Ghost anyway.

Ditto...

In fact I remember Kitfit telling me this about 2 years ago... I've recently had to deal with this first hand, after installing some new (bad) hardware that completely hosed my windows installation...

I used Ghost and Hit F6 and put in the NV driver floppy disk... and it goes on like it's going to work... then boom... unable to load nvraid... restarting....

When this happened I had a flash back of Kitfit telling me this...so I upgraded to Acronis True Image.

what you can to however.... if you have an extra HD laying around... install the backup image to a single drive... restore it... then make an Acronis image from the new install on the single drive....

then make your RAID array... then install the new Acronis image onto your RAID array...
