DFI LanParty UT eXpert NF4 SLI-DR RAM HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I’ve got a DFI LanParty UT eXpert NF4 SLI-DR motherboard, and was interested in upgrading from 2GB of ram to 4GB. I’ve currently using my G.Skill F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ in each of the orange slots. If I was to buy another pair, would they work if I had them in the yellow slots?

Only reason I’m asking is because when I fist got this motherboard and ram, I put the ram in the yellow slots and it didn’t work, I had to put them in the orange slots.

So will running 4x 1GB sticks in each slot work?

Thanks for your help guys.

On my SLI-DR using all 4 slots limits the memory to DDR333 unless you want to overclock it. I would've been better off buying 2x1gb as opposed to 4x512mb.

They will need to be exactly the same memories to do this without problems. Check this FAQ; Recommended to use exactly the same memories simultaneously.

Running 4 modules of even matched sets can be very difficult. Why? Integrated circuits (IC) are produced in batches to very tight specifications. Getting that exact same IC out of any different manufactured process is impossible. Even from batch to batch from the same manufacture variances will be noticed. These variances will always affect timings and voltages.

You will need to disable CPC in BIOS to run four memory modules at 2T.

Genie BIOS settings -- Command Per Clock -- Enable

And

Enable Memory Hole.

Advance Chipset Features -- Memory Hole for PCI MMIO – Enable

Enable Memory Hole remaps memory and allow the system to see up too 4GB. You’re limited to 3.2GB in XP 32bit.

Then I feel lucky. In both the Experts in my sig I'm running 4Gb(4x1Gb). Opteron 150 10x250 G.Skill @ 250 1:1 2T and Opteron 185 12x235 OCZ @ 235 1:1 2T.

The OCZ takes 2.7 to get there but everything else is at stock voltages.
