Mongy2130 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Ok here goes! With the spec in sig I get strange lock ups tho only while running orthos stress test can be 2mins or 4 hours into it the pc locks up nothing shows as failed at all and get screaching from the speakers (sort of noise the old commadores used to make while loading) Everything else runs fine can game for 8 hours solid work on it is fine same deal if I run it stock or overclocked Also If i install the duel core patch it will randomly just turn off if I emove it this goes away I have tryed all kinds of combinations of bios and memtesting all night is fine lol Anyone with any idea as what this could be would be a star its getting on my nerves now Thx in advance Dean
Coors Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I don't think that bios supports dual core cpu's. You need at least the 6/23 bios.
HITandRUN Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I don't think that bios supports dual core cpu's. You need at least the 6/23 bios. Agreed! The best thing is you get Tmod's BIOS cd (link in mys sig) and flash it to a newer BIOS!

Coors Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Have you tried running memtest to see if your ram settings are stable?
Kingfisher Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Try lowering your overclock or changing your settings. It could be secondary RAM timings or more vcore or a bump to your RAM voltage. Did you perform full CMOS clear after flashing BIOS? What are your temps that CoreTemp is reporting?
Mongy2130 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Yeah I did a full clear its the same at stock or overclocked volts doesnt seem to make any difference Memtest shows as fine too left it all night it passed with flying colours Been messing about today and found this If I just put 1 dimm in the orange slot closest to the cpu it wont boot and just beeps same with both dimms If i put one in the second orange one the one furthest away it boots and primes fine coming up to 4 hours now and the other dimm I did for 3 thats at stock and at 3ghz if I put both in it boots runs fine just prime freezes it so im wondering if the mb is borked or the memory controller on the cpu Friends loaning me a ati dfi board tonight and his ram and cpu so i can test each bit seperatly core temp at stock reads 42 per core after about an hour at 3ghz it gets to 52 tops per core
Praz Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 The following are valid configurations for ram installation. Any other configuration will not work. One stick of ram in the yellow slot furthest from the Processor. One stick of ram in the orange slot furthest form the processor (preferred). One stick of ram in the yellow and orange slots furthest from the processor. One stick of ram in both yellow slots. One stick of ram in both Orange slots (preferred). One stick of ram in each of the four slots. The success of this is dependent on the memory controller. If Windows was installed using a bios that does not support DC processors I would consider a reinstall.
Mongy2130 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I solved my problem yay! now 12 hours prime stable at 3ghz 1.4v Thx for the help offered Turned out that I had to lower the vdimm to 2.54 which is below the rated which is odd and all the issues vanished lol Once more thx to those who gave suggestions Regards Dean
