azrael201 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Hi guys, so i have my opty 165 prime stable at 3gig for 16hours but when i play BF2 and Sega Saturn emulator it freezes my computer randomly. I decided to finally go ahead and try a 3dmark06 and it always freezes too... anyone know a solution to this? sometimes when i boot up i get the blue screen saying there's a problem with my nv4_disp.dll. I've already tried reinstalling my video card drivers. for now i guess i have to go back to stock. i'm kinda disappointed that i can't hit 250Mhz (2.2Ghz) on stock voltage... thanks
Kingfisher Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Memory timings or video card overheating or low vcore/vdimm can be the cause of your symptoms.
MACarter02 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 yea this is quite common actually. i've had this happen to me several times, and OCDB stable rig will hard lock in games. usually, my solution is one step up on the VDIMM. azrael201 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 hmmm my RAM won't load windows at 2.8V...even though it is rated for that (although the DRAM 2.5V Voltage reading says 2.88V). Do you guys think I need to switch over to the orange slots? Maybe i should bump the chipset voltage up to 1.6V

Maybe i should bump the chipset voltage up to 1.6V I don't get that if it says 2.88 then its 2.88v what does Smartguardian report the vdimm to be  I used the orange slots purely because everyone told me too. I think you have nothing to loose by trying the orange slots
MACarter02 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 yea the unwritten rule is orange slots.
azrael201 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Yea sorry for the confusion, I don't understand the motherboard entirely either. In ITE it says the voltage is at 2.78 and it won't load windows at the next level up, 2.88V. I'm going to try running it at a even lower divider...although it's a DDR500 stock RAM and it was already at stock. I remember priming the memory when I was finding the max RAM clock. Chump Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 yea the unwritten rule is orange slots. He he it was written somewhere by one of the OCZ reps over on the bledinedge a year or so ago maybe its still there. The best bit & the bit I go along with was they said the orange slots were optimised for 1t use. Well it sounded impressive to me at the time LOL
azrael201 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 yea it's because I have these Patriot sticks that no one knows which slots work well with, and i don't remember how i came to settle on the yellow RAM but I thought depending on the IC modules you use either orange or yellow. Anyway dividers didn't work so here goes the switcheroo
azrael201 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 wow this is my lesson for the weekend...switching the memory slots. First i couldn't get my second rig to boot cause of wrong dimms and now it's the same with my primary rig. you guys are the best, although i had to suffer a bit haha
