Enough power?

Recommended Posts

Right now I have a Hiper 580W power supply. I've had it for about 18 months and it has two 12v rails at 18a and 20a. Soon I will be upgrading to a 8800gts and watercooling. I plan on OCing the vid card, cpu, and memory. All my system specs are in my sig. Do I have a good enough power suply to power all this? And if not what power supply do you recommend?

DFI LanpartyUt nF4 Ultra-D 704-2bta

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ KABAE 0604MPMW

@11x274 1.525 Vcore on XP-90C

1gig(2x516mb)OCZ gold pc3200 (OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K)

XFX 7900GT 587MHz Core 1768MHz Mem

Hiper Type-R 580watt

Audigy 2 ZS W/Logitech X-530

Samsung SyncMaster 225BW

The 580W Hiper was never recommended for DFI mobos in North America,

as there are so many better (& cheaper) choices available.

The Hiper 580W can not do highend SLI, impossible!

However with just one 8800GTS (not a GTX), you "might" squeek by.

My recommendation is either the Corsair 520W/620W non-SLI or the PC P&C 750W Quad for SLI.

Good Luck,

Dave :)

Thanks thats the first straight answer I've gotten from anybody. I know that my cpu will be a huge bottleneck so after I get the GTS I will get a duel core opty. If my psu doesnt have enough power, I think I'll get the Silverstone OP750. Does that sound good?

Yes, or the DA 750W modular version. :angel:
