wizurd of awwz Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Can you install this sideways facing the front or rear of the case? Will it mount that way? Will it cool the same?
MACarter02 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It may even cool better that way, at least passively, since you have front to back airflow moving through the heatsink.

That's what I was thinking but I was reading over the installation guide on Thermalright's website and they didn't mention anything about mounting it that way. Polizei Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I dont think it matters which way you mount it as long as it has airflow through the fins. If you were questioning mounting because of the heatpipes, it doesnt matter as far as I know.
wizurd of awwz Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It doesn't work. The video card is in the way. I put a fan on it from an older AMD hsf. Seems to be working a little better right now! 34c so far and room temp is 79f.
Polizei Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Ive hit idle temps around 23/24C in an 18C room with my HR-05. Its a great little cooler. I paired mine with some 80x25mm Masscool fan, its rated for 33CFM. I think how Ive got it placed, the fan is a little starved for air, but thats ok I guess, temps are great. Well spent $18. Jachyra007 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Front to back would provide pass through cooling, and I've got a nice picture of it sideways in this post.

MACarter02 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 yea mines diagonal. heatsink sometimes gets HOT to the touch, but it's passive, and my chipset stays 43C or so, so I couldnt be happier with it. <3 Thermalright
