you should read stickies in the video cards section...i've had a way to get classic cp back for over a month in the 8800 thread

AG~

I know how to do it, I was merely wondering if perhaps the new drivers gave us the option for Classic view again, as they used too.

Maybe they don't know everyone hates the new GUI CP from Nvidia??

I'm thinking about calling them and voicing my opinion:p

Tech support emails don't work so great sometimes, LOL;)

Blue

btw~ You'd think by now you'd know nobody reads stickies:D

Maybe it's just me, but I highly doubt it. Ok, I do read some of them, but honestly

not everyone of them for sure....alright I've read one about image posting and

Avatars.....oh wait I read the one about setting up my board as well, well I looked at the pictures anyhow

I'm killing myself here, ROLOL!!!

Finally, a game that's somewhat difficult for my computer to run.

I think this game is pretty good. Something like a cross between Deus Ex and Farcry.

It seems like whoever made it didn't spend half as much time playtesting as they should have though. There are some severe problems that detract from gameplay: If you load a save, for some reason everyone in the immediate area is alerted to your presence even if they had no idea you were there beforehand; missions that involve doing really stupid things like escorting a scientist with 4 health who shoots at everything in a half mile radius (and attracting its attention) whether or not it was agro on you.

All in all though a good game. Lots of cool things going on and stuff to do, this would probably have been a 10/10 if they fixed a few problems and had the level designers who made deus ex.

Sorry if someone has already posted this, but I wanted to ask: I am not an experienced gamer and not very skilled but learning, and I am sort of an "old timer" at 48, so my reflexes aren't like you handsome, bright young guys, heh.

So I wanted to ask, where do you guys go online for information on how to play games like this? Sites that tell you what the different keys do? Keyboard overlays? (I have a G15 kbd.) Walk throughs on how to play such games.

Sure, some games are well written enough that they come with tutorials, but I have a harder time enjoying a game without a tutorial. Are there "aftermarket" tutorials for such games as this?

TIA

we old guys (33 myself) mainly just play the game and read the manual (usually there's a better manual on the cd/dvd in PDF format), but I suppose 50% of knowing how to play any given game is because we've played any given game of the same genre and they all pretty much play the same.

Quake, Doom, Unreal Tournament, Battlefield, games like that are all essentially the same

Age of Empires, Dawn of War, Command & Conquer, Warcraft those are all pretty much the same (Real-Time Strategy)

Civilization, Galactic Civ, all the same really (Turn-Based Strategy)

Neverwinter Nights, Diablo, Titan Quest, all RPG's.

Once you've played a few of a certain genre, you can pick up a totally brand new title in the same genre and already know how to play it for the most part.

Sorta like if you own a Ford Mustang with a standard shifter, and you have to drive a Chevy Cobalt with an automatic tranny...they are both cars, they both drive essentially the same, just minor details separate them.

but

in some cases, I do tend to go directly to the game's forum to find out more.

Sometimes this is a hit, with lots and lots of info (kinda like how we have loads of info here about overclocking DFI motherboards). Sometimes it's pretty weak (like STALKER forums, where most posts seem to date back to 2003-2005 when the game was still very much vaporware). Those times then you generally go to a more general forum like Gamespy (but I don't like Gamespy's forums), or IGN (better a little, but still not my cup of tea, but usually decent game info in the specific game's forum), sometimes like HardOCP or Overclockersclub.com where you just have a lot of people playing the game at from that particular forum (kinda like this thread about STALKER here where you can ask anything and we'll help you, I'll even make a video to show you how to do it lol)

Thanks, Blue. One thing I need to know how to find is keyboard assignments for the various games...

you look in the Options - Controls and it tells you what keys are bound to what function...don't need no guides to find that stuff out...

Well, i must say, this game currently has me hooked. I'm glad i picked it up for the 4-day long weekend :)

Just thought i'd mention for you folks with non-'Uber Rigs' - i tried it out on my Brother's rig this afternoon (A64 3200, 2Gb RAM, 6600GT), & running @ 1024*768 with all settings on ~1/3 quality, no AA, the game played just as good as my rig (sig), & really didn't loose too much on the visuals either.
