Pearly water

Heh. That's a nifty experiment to try when you're curious about stuff. As for the watercooling loop it probably would create the same effect, but I guess that would depend on how much heat the radiator can put out.

Oh, and not to mention you're CPU would be getting a constant bath - leaving it germ-free. :shake: :shake:

I have a feeling the soap would change the thermal properties of water and make it less effcient at transfering heat.

The addition of hand soup would definitely change the thermal properties of the H2O; but probably not enough to have a major impact on the effectiveness of the cooling loop.

As I understand it; the underlying process for the pearl-lamp (shown in the link) is as follows:

  • The soap lowers the boiling point of the H2O
  • The lamp heats the H2O at the bottom of the bottle
  • The heated H2O vaporizes and rises as air bubbles
  • As the vapor rises; it is cooled by the H2O around it and condenses back to H2O

IMHO In an H2O cooling loop the water would not be in the WB long enough for the H2O to reach the temperature necessary to vaporize and generate a pearl effect.
