DFI SLI-DR w/ 4 sticks possible?

while back, i tried to go for 4 sticks of 512mb , failed, as most do, and i was just wondering now, in a dire need of upgrading but not wanting to shell out 300 bucks for 2 x 2GB sticks,

 

HAS ANYONE! ever gotten these freakin DFI SLI-DR boards to go with 4 sticks?, or are those other set of dim slots just there for show, any help would be appreciated.

i think you should try searching a bit this is a very commonly asked question, but i'll admit never phrased clearly and always covered as a tangent.

 

anyways you can if all 4 sticks are the same modules and have the same SPD info.

first off, get some Gskill HZ from Ebay, that is where I found mine, about $200shipped (it has done 287 tops, 1t so far), you will have to excerise some patience, took me about 2 weeks of bidding and observing before I scored.

 

you could then sell your 2 x512 sticks and recoup some of you investment back.

 

it would behoove you to go the 2 x 1 gig, getting 4 x 512 can and will be an ongoing experiment.......especially if you like to tweak a bit.
