Unregistered Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I recently purchased a Turion MT37 and Zalman 7000alcu heatsink to build a low-power server. What I am concerned about is where to apply thermal paste before installing the zalman on the Turion. Does the paste go over the entire chip? Just the central die? Any pointers appreciated.
BG84 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 a THIN layer over the entire core(die) should do the trick. get a good paste look at this http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appinstruc...ecore_expsd.pdf

radodrill Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 General practice among many users here (myself included) is to apply a grain-of-rice sized dab @ the center of the CPU; then install the HSF and let the pressure from the heatsink mounting spread out the TIM
