ikari1 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I built a new system using the below. Dfi 3200DR 170 Opteron @2.2mhz 2gb Mushkin 4000 1950XT 256mb Right from the off i had poor 3d Marks and in BF2 i could only get 60FPS singleplayer and 30 FPS in multiplayer. I tried all different catalyst drivers and reloaded everything several times inc all the latest patches and motherdoard bios. In the end i gave up on it and thought it was the graphics card or drivers so i replaced it today with a 8800GTS 640mb. Still only getting the same BF2 FPS though after installation..... Getting really fed up now!! Any ideas anyone? If i can't sort it soon i'm going to replace the motherboard with a Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16. I think the problem must be bandwidth somewhere (bottleneck) Looked into bios settings but can't see anything wrong. Over to the experts...... CPDMF Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 The default memory timings are way off on the CFX3200. Tref defaults to 0064 for some unknown reason. 3120 or 3684 will bring quite a bit of performance back.. I'm at work now but when I get home I will post up some timings that will help get it sorted out.
Kingfisher Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 You are in good hands with CP, he will get you back on track. I know it's really frustrating to have issues but keep a positive mind and try to have patience. Good luck.

Is it a case of tweaking them a bit and see the difference or can you crash your system changing certain ones. If you can advise what the other settings would be best set to i would be much appreciated!

CPDMF Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 To get the most out of your rig the settings will have to be tuned. I will give you some safe settings so at least you will have some numbers to go by. These are overclocked timings so they may be a little loose. I didn't spend much time at stock speeds so I don't have much data for it. CPC -- Enable TCL -- 3 Trcd -- 3 Tras -- 8 Trp -- 2 Trc -- 10 Trfc -- 16 Trrd -- 3 Twr -- 2 Twtr -- 2 Trwt -- 3 Tref 3120 or 3684 Dram Drive strength -- 6 Data Drive -- 1 Max Async 7.0 Read Preamble 5.0 These are not set in stone. The first 4 main timings will like to be in that area. The rest you can try to tighten up on one at a time and throw a little memtest to them before booting into Windows. Alot of the performance of your system will depend on how much time you are willing to spend in the bios and testing things. ikari1 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Thanks for that! I've been playing BF2 with the tref on 4600ish. Seems pretty smooth but after a while slows down a bit (but that could be the server??) i will try what you have suggested....
