Can I put AS5 on my Graphic cards memory chips?

Would this somehow damage the memory?

Cuz I don't want top use the horrible heat exchange pad things.

Rule of thumb, if you have a heat sink with Thermal Insulation Material (TIM) grease on it you can replace it with AS5 or other TIM grease.

If it is a bare IC you can use Artic Silver 5 Adhesive and install a after market heat sink.

Check the SVC or NewEgg links in my signature for those products.

Just to clear things up. Arctic Silver 5 is not electrically conductive. I was mistaken about this as well until a couple days ago when I was just looking at some comparisons between Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Silver Ceramique. Take a look. For those of you too lazy to look at the website :P , it is Arctic Silver's website with information about AS5, and I quote:

"Not Electrically Conductive:

Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.

(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)"

I always thought AS5 was electrically conductive until I saw this. You should be careful not to get any thermal compound (regardless of whether or not it is AS5) on any close-proximity electrical paths.

Edit: Even though I love my AS5 I recently picked up some Ceramique and I'm going to give that a go on my CPU and Video Card (when my heatsink gets here) just so I can see how they stack up. :)

I guess I knew it wasn't supposed to be conductive but apparently (and I say apparently for a reason) under certain conditions AS5 may become conductive.

I don't really have any facts for this -- but that's what I've read.

Whether its true or not remains to be seen, so take it for what it's worth.

(Thanks for the link though because that did answer some of my questions)
