clevnull Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I just installed an Evercool VC-RE to replace my failing stock chipset fan. The good news is it's working great and the chipset temps are now down to 38C when idle. The bad news is none of my IDE drives are showing up in the BIOS. This includes a CD-RW, DVD-RW and HDD. It detects my two SATA drives and the OS will come up clean but I don't see these IDE drives. I have tried various cables and port swaps with the IDE drives and nothing seems to resolve the problem. I made no changes to any other hardware, jumpers cable position, etc... all I did was install the chipset fan and connect it all back up the way it originally was connected to the MB. The BIOS shows the IDE channels as enabled. If I do a manual detect in BIOS it comes right back with no information on the screen. I have not messed with any of the other BIOS settings so it mostly defaults. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sparky69 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 i have similar problem. After a year of using my board i have this issue - when I power on my system, it doesn't recognise any of my IDE drives (HDD and DVD rom). I need to go to bios and just go to the save&exit or exit whitout saving and after reboot all my IDE drives are recognised. Does anybody knows what is happening? I didn't do any changes to my system or bios before this starts happening. Thank's for any suggestions. BTW: I have oc'ed my venice from 2000@2400 for 1 year.[/i]

tasr Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Try a CMOS clear and if that doesn’t work do a long CMOS clear like this and follow it but leave the battery in. Then if you can get posted, Load Optimized Defaults in the BIOS and see if it will boot. Then try booting complete to the OS without the IDE/CD connected. Shutdown, connect the IDE/CD and boot again. Any time you work on your PC you need to take the following precautions. 1. Power off the PC. 2. Unplugged the power cord from the wall socket. 3. Press the start button to dump the stored electric in the capacitors.
