DVI to HDMI

well I was on newegg today to get some ideas on the best way to hook my htpc to my plasma tv. My panasonic 50in does not have dvi or dsub connectors, just s-video.

While I was browsing I noticed a DVI to HDMI Cable. Anyone running this route? I will be placing an order soon for this $10 cable and was hoping someone else had some experience with it.

I haven't used the exact one from the 'Egg, but yes, DVI-to-HDMI is a common swap. If you intend to use sound with this, you will need a 3.5mm to stereo RCA cord as well, and make sure you use the HDMI input that obviously has the analog RCA sound inputs. The Panasonic plasmas are awesome, and in the near future many more video cards will be rolling out with HDMI outputs standard- I even saw some talk about the video card possibly intercepting the digital audio streams on the PCIe bus and simply routing them through to the HDMI connector. That would be extremely helpful, so don't count on seeing it anytime soon. :(

I bought my DVI-D to HDMI cable on ebay. It rocks, it is very thick and well shielded.. I get 1080p and adjust for overscan in the drivers. I get full HDTV from an OTA tuner card/antenna combo with no HDCP, no DRM, and no bull crap. It's beautiful. :)
