Hello!!!:D

So this is my first post, and I'm lost already, LOL!!!

First off, I'd like to say, I'm starting a new build, this build I will be using as many of the parts as I can from my current RIG. I will prolly have several question about the DFI UT nf4 Ultra-D, MoBo, that is the heart of my system, well, except for my PSU, D'oh!!!

First things first, I'd like to know when I can upload an Avatar to go with my profile etc.

After I figure that out, with some pointers, I'll be off and running. I am a regular member of the Abit forum as well, have been there posting away since 2003. Some of the folks I know there told me to join this Forum, as my new build is a DFI build, I was told there's a wealth of info here, I'm a tad confused however about this Forum vs the other DFI Forum. I know that Travis was employed by DFI, and things didn't work out, I also know he has a ton of experience with my MoBo, so I thought, if this is where he hangs out, this is where I will hang out. To learn all I can about my DFI MoBo etc. I've heard many good things about "Angry Gamer", and am sorry that things went south, with his old site "DFI Street". Please feel free to correct me if I've got things mixed up here

Back to the Avatar thing, how long do I have to wait to use an Avatar or am I missing something, this Forum uses V-Bulletin just like my home over at Abit. But I can't find the Avatar area here.

Any help would be welcome. and I'm pleased to be a new member:D

Blue:eek2: I always sign my threads and posts so if someone else uses my abbreviation of Blue let me know, and I'll change it, ok.....AFAIK there is a Blue here already, not sure about how many posts he does and so on, don't want to step on anyones foot:p

Why?

I guess would be my question here? I'm merely asking a question? It's not even Hardware of software in nature, it's just a simple question. All forums work differently, and no I'm not going to delete my post. If the mod team, (or is there just one mod?) thinks I'm out of line in my question or this is the wrong place to post it, they can let me know. I posted it here as there is no OPEN discussion Section, that I see, so AMD Motherboards is the closest match I could come up with, I put Abit as the prefix as that's the forum I hang out at as well, to help people whom know me here so they might get a hint, is all. I've used many different MoBo's mostly ABIT, but now I'm going with a DFI w/AMD CPU/board for my new build, as it was a gift from one of my friends. So there it is there. Like I said I was just wondering how the avatar thing works here, is all, my main concern is certainly not my Avatar, rather it's working with my NEW DFI AMD/CPU/NF4 MoBo, ok.

Blue:confused:

Ah, OFF Topic=Open D, I get it, LOL!!!! Though I will spend a great deal of time in this section, that is yet to come, so off Topic is fine. Three sections you'll prolly find me post at regularly are AMD Motherboards, Gaming, and Off Topic, just thought I'd through that out there, ok.

the Thread you posted in is for Mother board support...(AMD Mother boards)

If you just want to ask general questions then Off Topic is your place...

It's not even Hardware of software in nature,

Correct...and that stuff 9 times out of 10 belongs here...

I posted it here as there is no OPEN discussion Section

thats why I moved it...open general discusion belongs here...again

And also that was the *Wrong place* to post about DFI boards...DFI-boards has it's own section as noted by the stickies up top of the mother board section...

Dont get me wrong...I am in no way jumping on you...this forum has a unique layout and everything has it's own place...it's what seperates this forum from all others..

Do not take this as me singling you out and being a turd...as I am not..

Pretty much you have to understand that the Motherboard sections (either AMD or Intel) have to do with just mother board questions...and not general discusion as your post in a whole...

Now if you would have posted a question about your Abit board like....How do I change my LDT multiplier ot something to that nature...that is very much the place for it...

Now if you are asking a question on a DFI board you own then that goes into the DFI mother board section..(Not the AMD motherboard section)

Now if you are thinking about buying a DFI board and asking advice that goes in "Recommendations"

you see how this works so far...

But asking about Avatars is general chatter and belongs here...;)

I hope you understand...Thanks..dr

First off, welcome to the forums.

You can still find a wealth of information about your board in the "Old DFI-Street Section" near the bottom of the main page.

About the avatar, I guess they're just tired of answering that one when the answer can be found in the rules section (which it is expected that you read before posting).

Again, welcome.

Southmine~

Yeah, my fault, I admit I did not read through all the sticky's, I'm tired, need a nap, ZZZZZZZZ, so sorry about the confusion, I'll have it figured out in no time, today I just wanted to INTRODUCE myself really, like I said I'm really to tired to post, LOL!!! However I wanted to get the join part done with, and move on, thanks for the heads-up!!!:D

I'll read the n00b sticky's later, yeah I know, that's kinda back wards. So anyhow here I am, I hope to have fun here, help folks, get help, and so on. Having a good time here is impotent to me. As if it's no fun, well it's prolly not the place for me. I'm sure that's not the case here though, just new is all.

Thanks Southmine, Ollie and Dr Bowti !!

This is the section I missed:: 8. Avatars - Avatars are awarded to certain users based on their contributions to the forum. Please do not ask to be allowed an avatar. If the moderators/admins feel you are deserving of one, they will contact you.

It's all right now man...

Atleast you're the bigger person for realizing the mistake...it happens...I hope you enjoy this place also...it can be alot of fun..;)

ok go get that nap....then have a good read...;)

I guess I shouldn't just jump in with both feet all at once, just thought I'd break the ICE so to speak, aye. I use the same user name at the Abit forums, is that an isssue as well? If so I can chnge it somehow:rolleyes: ;)

If it's not an issue, I'll just leave it, I have nothing to hide, I'm a very open person. Like I said, I'm doing a new DFI build and will be needing suggestions and advice for sure. In my sig it says TRITON, that's a Gigabyte MoBo I am currently using, K8-Triton NF3 socket 939 board (GA-K8NSC-939), just to clarify things a bit, all my prior builds have been with Abit boards. IMO, ABIT and DFI make the best boards, this board I'm running now, I bought to get more life outta my NV-BFG GeForce 6800GTOC 256DDR3 SM 3.0 AGP card, I'll be getting a new PCIe GFX card soon, prolly the 7800GTX SLIe GFX card or perhaps a ATI 1600PRO w/512 RAM, not sure yet, maybe the 1950PRO w/512 RAM?

So dr_bowtie~

You may have run across a post or two of mine, I'll look for you, did you know the ABIT forum has been down sense Tuesday!!! I'm like going through with-drawls:) :eek2: I like playing around with the cool smiley's you guys have. Different. Back to the Abit Forum, anyhow, it should be back up Monday is my guess, there's a sister forum called "abit-wolves", where all the folding team members hang, and one of the mods from the abit forums posted about it, in case your interested. Here's the LINK::

So I'm pretty stoked about my new build, but am still waiting on parts etc. It will be awhile yet. The BIOS in the DFI board is far more advanced than my current board, which is fine with me, though, I'm a tad nervous about messing around in there to much, with the board I have now (the Gigabyte) it was fairly simple for me to take my 2GHz Venice core to 2.5GHz, and with this DFI board I'm looking to hit 2,7 or 2.9 if possible:eek: Alrighty then, I gotta go cook din din...see you guys soon, Thanks for the Welcome Aboard Email etc. As well as your personal welcomes, good to be here I hope this Forum is more stable than Abit, he he. I love those guys over there though, great Bunch!! So later.......;)
