cler1c Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I'm trying to decide between these two mobos (Gigabyte DS3 or DQ6) paired with an E6400. I already have an 8800 GTX and I remember reading Angry saying somewhere that if you have a powerful graphics card then the single 16x pci slot on the DS3 isn't a problem since you won't have to worry about going SLi anyway. Are there any other advantages (e.g. overclocking potential) the DQ6 has over the DS3 that would justify me spending an extra $100 or am I better off saving my money? Thasp Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 The DQ6, according to many posts on XS and a few reviews, overclocks the same or worse than the DS3 with identical hardware. Buy the DS3, buy some zalman vga ramsinks for the mosfets on the board, and you're set.
yonton228 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I have abosolutly no complaints with my DQ6, thing is a beast lol. So far my 6300 is at 3050 24/7 stable no probs. -yonton228/timmy
momoceio Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 By saying it overclocks worse do you mean the DQ6 might get 3.5ghz where the DS3 gets 3.6 or is it a much larger difference. I just got my DQ6 up and running so I don't know what it can do yet but I'll be happy if I can get to 3ghz....
Angry_Games Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 GA-965P-S3 is what I would choose (since no need for SLI/Crossfire with a single 8800GTS)
yonton228 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 For the price you cant go wrong with getting a DS3. However make sure you try to get a Rev 2 or 3.3 -yonton228/timmy
